Services were conducted in various homes in the Clearbrook community beginning in 1897. The first pastor traveled from LaConner by bicycle, train, and on foot. On January 1, 1902, First Evangelical Lutheran of Clearbrook was organized with 17 members. A building was constructed by volunteer labor on land donated by a member.
